Lots of my coaching clients tell me they're too busy to think or strategise. Their calendars bulge with meetings, they put off 1-1s because they have just too many direct reports to keep track of, and Murphy's Law says the most important initiatives are the ones sure to get dropped in the frantic juggling. It's vital to "work yourself out of a job" as your team scales up, and whether you're doing this yourself or coaching your leadership team on it, I can help. We'll look at multiple techniques that will help you to do this without going bananas, including

  • effective delegation with briefing and back briefing
  • disappointing others helpfully when you intentionally drop work
  • the magic button that clears your schedule and creates "thinking time"
