It's totally normal to feel like a complete failure as a CTO, but nobody tells you that.

The only thing on my wall at TIM Group, where I was CTO for ten years, was Ben Horowitz's famous essay on CEO pressures and making choices between "horrible and cataclysmic". That's because I had to remind myself constantly that failure was normal, that we were building something (fintech SaaS for huge banks) that no one ever had before, and that making a decision trumped making the right decision.

If you or one of your executive team are bending under the pressure, come along to learn some of the methods, like Learned Optimism and Joint Design, that I've found helpful in guiding my clients through similar psychological storms.
