Live! Tech Baloney
This is an exec member exclusive video.
Request video
You're smart enough not to respond to requests from Nigerian bankers or (I hope!) "offerings" of worthless
Ponzi-scheme coins. You know that sales forecasts are 50% fiction and that the customer-service team is
understaffed, not just "busy helping other customers". So why do so many of you credulously accept
the most absurd technical baloney??
For example:
- The code in production is terrible. We have to rewrite all of it.
- We don't need research; machine learning will figure out what users want and give it to them.
- We can't estimate or predict software dev work; we'll just tell you when it's done.
Join me for an interactive session live and in-person, where we'll explode these and many other technical
"truths" and discuss a host of methods for detecting and decontaminating the baloney, including:
- Designing and asking probing questions about topics you know nothing about.
- Using "back briefings" to keep a technical project defanged and on a short leash.
- Bringing in outside expertise to validate what you're hearing—and knowing when not to.
